An integral component of the City's multimodal mobility concept, cycling has seen a surge in popularity and cyclists are now a common sight in capital's urban landscape. To further promote cycling and encourage people to use bikes for everyday journeys, the City will be extending the bike parking network with the addition of 36 new locations in the coming weeks. In all, 246 new parking spaces will be created, bringing the total number of parking spaces for bikes in Luxembourg City to 1,695. Sited near several major points of interest, such as playgrounds, sports and cultural facilities, public squares and shops, the new parking locations will extend and enhance the current network and make life easier for cyclists.

At the same time, the City is committed to gradually replacing the existing bike racks with stands that are better suited to the dimensions and features of e-bikes. This type of stand, which has already been installed in the Knuedler car park, is designed to accommodate all types of bikes and is therefore better suited to cyclists' needs. The bike stands will first be installed in Ville Haute and the Gare district before being rolled out to the other districts.

As evidenced by its vel'OH! self-service bike rental system and its ongoing efforts to extend and improve existing cycling infrastructure, the City is strongly committed to promoting cycling as the preferred method of transport for urban journeys.
