LE MUR Luxembourg

The vernissage of the mural produced by the Switzerkand-based artist RosyOne was held on Thursday, 23 May 2024 at LE MUR Luxembourg's new location in Rue du St-Esprit.

RosyOne

Born in 1977, RosyOne fell in love with hip-hop and rap music at the age of 12. When Kylie Minogue's single The Loco-motion was released, the graffiti artwork on the cover prompted the young RosyOne to get to know this urban art form. After meeting other artists in Berlin and Paris, she was inspired to create her own graffiti tags on trains and subways. When she received a heavy fine, the artist decided to change tack and began using the name "RosyOne", with which she gained her now international reputation. Over the years, she has exhibited her work in many countries around the world, including the United States, Russia, the Czech Republic, Germany, France, Spain, Sweden, and Italy. In her works, she often alludes to the golden age of hip-hop, making use of the graphic codes of the time. Beyond graffiti, she has also left her mark on the hip-hop scene, organising concerts, parties, and cultural projects celebrating 1980s hip-hop.
