"Luxembourg City in Bloom": shop window decorating contest

Throughout the month of May 2025, the Luxembourg City Business Association (Union commerciale de la Ville de Luxembourg – UCVL) and the City of Luxembourg are holding "Luxembourg City in Bloom": a contest to decorate the city's shop windows. This is being organised in partnership with LUGA ASBL, the organiser of LUGA – Luxembourg Urban Garden, which is an exhibition of urban gardens, landscape and art installations, and agricultural scheduled to take place between 7 May and 18 October 2025)

In this competition, the capital's shopkeepers are invited to decorate their windows and/or facades with botanicals, organics, plants and flowers, creating a floral and natural atmosphere. A panel of judges will score participating businesses' decorations on a set of criteria (relevance to the theme, overall aesthetics, originality and creativity, integration of products sold into the décor, technical execution) and select three winners, each of whom will receive a €2,000 grant from the City of Luxembourg. The public can take part too, by voting for their "favourite" shop window. Simply scan the QR code on the sticker displayed near participating stores, and fill in the form. The business with the most votes will be awarded €1,000, and voters will be entered into a draw to win a €500 gift voucher.

Information meeting, 25 March 2025

An information meeting will be held on Tuesday, 25 March 2025 at Cercle Cité to explain the terms and conditions of the competition to interested retailers.

Training in scenography techniques for shop window displays: 31 March and 2 April 2025

As part of "Luxembourg City in Bloom", to help the capital's retailers optimise communication with customers and make the best of the presentation of their products, the City is offering free training in scenography for shop windows to retailers. During these workshops, participants will learn the fundamentals of shop window design, so they can create an eye-catching setting for their store's products. They will complete a shop window decoration project to put what they have learned into practice.

These initiatives are in line with the desire of the City authorities and the UCVL to make the stores as attractive as they can be, draw a varied public and create a dynamic and engaging commercial scene, with the involvement of store owners.
