Certificate of residence
Contents
A certificate of residence contains the following information:
- surname and first name;
- gender;
- date and place of birth;
- the current address at which the person is registered in the main register of the Registre national des personnes physiques (National Register of Natural Persons).
Upon request, a residence certificate may also contain the following information:
- identification number;
- family status, the surname and first name, and date and place of birth of the person's spouse or registered partner;
- nationality or nationalities;
- the previous addresses at which the person was registered in the main register of the National Register of Natural Persons.
Conditions of issuance
To be eligible to get an extended residence certificate (long-form) from the Bierger-Center, you must:
- reside or have resided in Luxembourg City;
- be registered in the main register of the municipal register of natural persons.
Former residents who live in another municipality within the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg must apply to their local municipal office.
Documents to submit
You must provide a valid identity document.
If you are requesting documents on behalf of another person as their guardian, trustee or legal administrator, you must submit:
- your identity document;
- proof of the capacity in which you are acting (e.g. a guardianship or trusteeship order).
If you wish to authorise someone else to pick up your certificate of residence , an "Authorisation – Agency Agreement" form must be provided.
Extended residence certificate (long-form)
Contents
An extended residence certificate (long-form) contains the following information:
- surname and first name;
- gender;
- date and place of birth;
- the current address at which the person is registered in the main register of the National Register of Natural Persons.
- the surname and first name, gender, and date and place of birth of the spouse or registered partner with the same usual place of residence as the person for whom the certificate is issued.
- the surname and first name, gender, and date and place of birth of any descendants with the same usual place of residence as the person for whom the certificate is issued.
Upon request, an extended residence certificate (long-form) may also contain the following information:
- nationality or nationalities;
- identification number.
Conditions of issuance

- reside in Luxembourg City;
- be registered in the main register of the municipal register of natural persons.

Certificate of registration at a reference address
Contents
This certificate contains the following information:
- surname and first name;
- gender;
- date and place of birth;
- the reference address at which the person is registered in the National Register of Natural Persons.
Upon request, a certificate of registration at a reference address may also contain the following information:
- identification number;
- family status, the surname and first name, and date and place of birth of the person's spouse or registered partner;
- nationality or nationalities;
- prior reference addresses.
Conditions of issuance
To get a certificate of registration at a reference address from the Bierger-Center, you must be registered:
- at a reference address located in Luxembourg City;
- in the main register of the municipal register of natural persons.
Documents to submit
You must provide a valid identity document.
If you are requesting documents on behalf of another person as their guardian, trustee or legal administrator, you must submit:
- your identity document;
- proof of the capacity in which you are acting (e.g. a guardianship or trusteeship order).
If you wish to authorise someone else to pick up your certificate of registration at a reference address, an "Authorisation – Agency Agreement" form must be submitted.
Certificate of voter registration
Contents
A certificate of voter registration contains the following information:
- surname and first name;
- gender;
- date and place of birth;
- nationality or nationalities;
- the address at which the person is registered in the National Register of Natural Persons;
- for non-Luxembourg nationals, the electoral lists on which they are registered;
- if applicable, a statement that the person has been registered subject to verification of the provisions of the electoral law.
Conditions of issuance
To obtain a certificate of voter registration from the Bierger-Center, you must:
- reside in Luxembourg City;
- be registered on the electoral lists.
Documents to submit
You must provide a valid identity document.
If you are requesting documents on behalf of another person as their guardian, trustee or legal administrator, you must submit:
- your identity document;
- proof of the capacity in which you are acting (e.g. a guardianship or trusteeship order).
If you wish to authorise someone else to pick up your certificate of voter registration, an "Authorisation – Agency Agreement" form must be submitted.
Certificates of life
Contents
A certificate of life contains the following data:
- surname and first name;
- gender;
- date and place of birth;
- the address at which the person is registered in the National Register of Natural Persons.
On request, this certificate may also contain the person's identification number.
Conditions of issuance
To get a certificate of life from the Bierger-Center, you must:
- apply in person;
- be registered in the main register of the municipal register of natural persons.
