After 439 days of rest in an ideal environment at the heart of the Fort Royal casemates, the 6,000 bottles of the Cuvée LUGA 2025 Crémant Millésimé begin the next chapter in their production process.
The bottles are being taken from this historic setting to the cellars of Luxembourg's Moselle region to begin the riddling (remuage) phase. This delicate process removes the yeast deposits formed during fermentation. The bottles will be stored in a downward position at an angle of around 75 degrees and turned one eighth of a turn each day. This gradual movement slides the residue towards the neck, preparing the crémant for the next production stage.
This new step marks a key moment in the refining of this special vintage, whichi has been specially created to celebrate the LUGA 2025 exhibition. Combining tradition, local savoir-faire and winemaking excellence, the Cuvée LUGA 2025 Crémant Millésimé is the fruit of a unique collaboration between the Fonds de Solidarité Viticole and three groups of Moselle region winegrowers: the Organisation Professionnelle des Vignerons Indépendants, Domaines Vinsmoselle and the Fédération Luxembourgeoise des Vins et Spiritueux. With the support of LEADER Miselerland, the Institut Viti-Vinicole (IVV) and LUGA ASBL, this unprecedented partnership represents a truly collaborative effort of the winegrowing and oenology professions. This special vintage was developed from grapes from the various winegrower groups, under the supervision of the maître de chai (cellar master) of the Wine Institute in Remich.
