On Thursday, 13 February 2025, the Lëtzebuerg City Bibliothèque will host a public screening of "Disco Afrika", the first feature film by Madagascan director Luck Razanajaona. The film tells the story of Kwame, a young man working in the secret mines of Madagascar. When he returns to his hometown, he is reunited with his family and friends, but is confronted with the corruption that dominates the country and is faced with a decision: he must choose between his own personal interest and keeping his integrity.
"Disco Afrika" celebrated its European premiere at the 2024 Berlinale (section "Generation 14plus") and won a commendation from the AG Kino-Gilde (association of German arthouse cinemas), as well as the Jury Prize at the Afrika Film Festival in Cologne.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with the director (in French) and a drinks receptions.
