"Espace en flux": A project blending design with history, on display at 1, rue de Strasbourg

From mid-March until the venue is repurposed, the "Espace en flux" (Space in Flux) project – a project that blends history and design – will be on display in the Gare district's most emblematic building, located on the corner of Rue de Strasbourg and Avenue de la Liberté. The windows of this currently vacant building will be decorated with illustrations by designer Ruth Lorang, retracing the rich history of this building, which has successively housed the "Apollo-Theater", the "Casino de la Gare", the "Hôtel Chicago" and the "Hôtel City". By scanning a QR code, interested passers-by and history buffs can learn more about the building through texts by historian Robert L. Philippart.

Initiatives to boost local businesses

As part of the overall drive to boost local businesses in the capital, the City has undertaken a number of initiatives, such as "Gare Grooves", the installation of new Christmas lights and decorations in the Gare district, the opening of pop-up stores, and the creation of the "Design Hub", and these new projects follow in the footsteps of those which have gone before. The aim is to create a warm, friendly atmosphere in shopping areas in order to enhance the district's appeal and attract a wider range of visitors. They are therefore part of an overall drive to revitalise shopping in the capital.
