At the invitation of HRH Grand Duke Henri, His Holiness Pope Francis is paying an official visit to Luxembourg on 26 September 2024.

The City will be publishing information on everything you need to know about this rare event: full program, public broadcasts, the route of the popemobile, spectator areas and crosswalk points, traffic, parking and public transport changes, office closures, etc.

Traffic and public transport

On Thursday, 26 September, all parts of the city will remain accessible, but the Ville Haute and Gare districts are currently heavily affected. As such, public transport in the city is subject to diversions and disruptions.

The City recommends, therefore, that wherever possible, you use the tram and other public transport services to travel to and within the capital. Please also allow extra travel time for potential disruptions.
