On Tuesday, 26 november 2024, the Centre d'animation pédagogique et de loisirs (Creative Learning Centre – CAPEL) – a division of the City of Luxembourg's Service Foyers scolaires (Childcare Department) – will be hosting the public roundtable discussion entitled "Spielraumentwicklung im öffentlichen Raum" (Developing Play Areas in Public Spaces) at Cercle Cité (2, rue Genistre). The event is scheduled to start at 19:00 and is expected to last 2 hours. This public conference is geared toward parents, teachers, educators and other interested parties. It will be held in German and focuses on the development of play areas in public spaces. It will bring together eminent Luxembourg and international speakers to discuss the importance of open spaces and games in child development.

Discussions will focus on the different facets of outdoor play. How important is this form of play to a child's development? How and where can outdoor play take place? Is outdoor play dangerous today? To what extent can children be involved in the development of public spaces? How does neighborhood life change when kids play outside?

  • Christiane Richard-Elsner, Coordinator of the Draußenkinder interdisciplinary working group of ABA Fachverband – Offene Arbeit mit Kindern und Jugendlichen

The roundtable discussion will be moderated by Alain Massen, psychotherapist and chair of the National Representative Association of Parents (Représentation nationale des parents d'élèves).
