Throughout the Yuletide season, the Winterlights festival will run from 22 November 2024 to 1 January 2025, transforming Luxembourg City into a winter wonderland that is sure to delight both residents and visitors alike.
Christmas markets and other attractions during the Winterlights festival
A sea of lights and decorations will lend the city's streets and squares a magical air – creating a captivating spectacle for anyone out for a stroll in the capital. At the various Christmas markets throughout the city, visitors will find warm seasonal drinks, sweet and savoury treats, and many stalls offering decorative items, toys, jewellery, clothing, and sweets:
- "Lëtzebuerger Chrëschtmaart" at Place d'Armes
- "Wantermaart" at Place de la Constitution
- "Niklosmaart" at Place de Paris
- "Wanterpark" and ice skating rink at Kinnekswiss
Fir trees over ten meters tall, children's rides, trampolines, the giant pyramid and the Ferris wheel are just some of the attractions that will appeal to visitors.
Winterkids, entertainment, concerts and exhibitions
The festival will also feature an extensive entertainment programme to suit all tastes, with concerts, exhibitions, Christmas-themed films, and theatre and dance performances. This will include a wide array of children's activities at the Winterkids market at Place Guillaume II (with creative workshops, storytimes, puppet shows and more), while people of all ages will be sure to enjoy the rich and diverse programme of cultural events put on by the City's theatres and museums, as well as the Cinémathèque. On 1 December, Saint Nicholas will be making his rounds, calling at various locations across the city as part of the traditional "Kleeschen on tour" procession. There promises to be something for everyone!
