Remise de prix 2024

On 19 January 2024, the City of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg City Business Association (Union Commerciale de la Ville de Luxembourg) announced the winners of the shopfront window decoration competition held from early to mid December 2024. The competition was organised as part of the drive to create a festive atmosphere in the city during the end-of-year holidays, and to reward businesses' efforts to share the magical experience of Christmas with customers and visitors through their shopfront windows.

This year, 44 businesses took part in the sixth edition of the competition, of which 16% were located in the Gare district, 79.4% in Ville Haute and 4.6% in one of the capital's other districts. Nearly 85% of the entries – across all business sectors – were independent businesses.

After assessing the shopfront windows based on a predefined set of criteria – overall attractiveness of the window and/or shopfront, overall originality and creativity, and incorporation of the business's products in the decor – the panel of judges selected the following winners:

  • First prize: the store "Smets Women", located at 13, avenue de la Porte-Neuve (Ville Haute)
  • 2nd prize: "Ecrin de Verdure", located at 54, rue de Strasbourg (Gare district)
  • 3rd prize: "Optikstudio", located at 20, rue Beaumont (Ville Haute)

The judges were enthralled by the emotion that emanated from the winners' creations, especially since a business's shopfront window creates the first impression that customers will get, making it an important tool for attracting and communicating with customers, accounting as it does for a considerable share of a business's turnover.

The winners received €4,000, €2,000 and €1,000, respectively, and all the prize money was donated by the City of Luxembourg as part of its effort to support businesses with the aim of making the city more lively and appealing.
