Final presentation of the "Mobilitéitsplang" on 27 June 2024.

On Thursday, 27 June 2024 at 18:00, the finalised version of the City's new "Mobilitéitsplang" was unveiled at the Grand Théâtre. The ceremony was attended by Mayor Lydie Polfer, Alderman Patrick Goldschmidt (city official responsible for mobility), Director of Transport Paul Hoffmann, and Rafael Da Silva, manager of mobility projects in the Service Circulation (Traffic Department).

Topics discussed

Those in charge of the plan set out the urban mobility objectives that the City wishes to achieve by 2035. The plan informs all the mobility-related measures that the City intends to implement. It covers not only different means of travel but also the various reasons why people need to travel (commuting, private trips, business trips, etc.).

The presentation then explored the analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the existing transport infrastructure and services. In light of the findings, the plan describes the transport infrastructure and services that are needed to ensure that the city remain accessible in the future, particularly taking into account its population growth and economic development, and the challenges in terms of protecting the climate and the environment.

In its last part, the meeting took a look at the strategies and measures needed to achieve the set targets and to ensure the creation of mobility options that are efficient, sustainable, and tailored to users' needs, while at the same time taking account of the current situation and existing constraints.

The presentation was followed by a discussion between politicians, mobility experts and the audience.

Outreach and information-sharing event on 17 September 2022

Continuing in the same vein as the first participatory events, held on 13 October 2021 and 3 March 2022, the City held an outreach and information-sharing event in Place d'Armes. The event offered one and all the chance to talk informally with the municipal authorities in charge of mobility, to share their ideas on urban transport, to learn more about the process of developing the "Mobilitéitsplang", the progress to date, and the next steps in the project. They were also able to ask questions about mobility in general in the city, and the challenges linked to urban mobility in tomorrow's world, in a city that is growing, thriving and looking to the future.
