Description
German Sign Language (Deutsche Gebärdensprache – DGS) is a language in its own right, with its own grammar. Learning DGS facilitates communication with deaf and hard-of-hearing people and promotes greater understanding, inclusion and mutual respect.
The City offers German Sign Language (DGS) courses open to anyone aged 18 and over who speaks and understands German and would like to learn DGS.
Three levels are offered:
- DGS 1 – Beginner: For people who want to learn German Sign Language from scratch.
- DGS 2 – For students with prior knowledge: For people who have a basic knowledge of DGS. This course can only be taken after completing the DGS 1 course.
- DGS 3 – Advanced: For people who already have a good knowledge of DGS. This course can only be taken after completing the DGS 1 and DGS 2 courses.
The courses are taught by deaf instructors and are recognised by the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth.

DGS1
- Period: 8 October to 26 November
- Day: every Thursday
- Time: 18:00 to 19:00
- Course length: 8 sessions
- Fee: EUR 50 for 8 sessions
- Number of participants: max. 12 people
- Location: Communication Centre in Beggen (166, rue de Beggen, L-1220 Luxembourg)

- Registration is open from 14 September to 2 October 2026.
- Since the number of participants is limited to 12 people per class, we recommend that you register as soon as possible. If a class is already full, you can register for the next one.
