From ECHO.lu.Come and explore the fascinating world of idioms and how their meanings shift across languages. Every culture has unique expressions, but translating them often leads to unexpected, even humorous, interpretations. Take the English saying, It’s raining cats and dogs. In German, it becomes Es regnet wie aus Eimern — means It’s raining like from buckets—showing how language reflects different perspectives.

In this workshop, you can share a favorite saying in your language with a neighbor and discover what these phrases reveal about our cultural values and views. By the end, you’ll have gained fresh insights into language, culture, and perhaps a few new expressions from around the world!

Nadine Rocco is an artist with a passion for wordplay and expressive illustrations, often exploring themes of gender equality and societal balance. Through her art, she brings humor and depth to important conversations, using a playful approach to highlight meaningful issues.
