Why do power structures consistently hinder effective climate protection measures?
.On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 8:00 p.m., Mouvement Ecologique, in collaboration with partner organizations, warmly invites you to an engaging lecture by Professor Jens Beckert, Director of the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies. Under the title “Is Society Failing in the Fight Against Climate Change? What Concrete Conclusions Can Be Drawn?”, Professor Beckert will analyze why necessary measures are lacking despite the known dangers of climate change and how we should handle the situation. He will highlight the power and motivation structures of companies, politicians, voters, and consumers, who prioritize short-term interests over long-term environmental goals.
The event will take place at Hotel Parc Belle-Vue, 5, Avenue Marie-Thérèse in Luxembourg City. Registration via meco@oeko.lu is recommended. The lecture will be translated into English.
