The exhibition features 127 photographs from the Photothèque's major collections, providing an overview of fashion and clothing in Luxembourg since the early 20th century. Clothes are not just pieces of fabric that people use to cover or adorn themselves, they are also a reflection of society.
Special exhibitions
Every year since 1986, the Photothèque has put on a special exhibition at the Ratskeller, enabling the public to discover the City's rich photographic collections: "Not human. Luxembourg's other inhabitants" in 2023; "Luxembourg 360° – la capitale à travers des collections photographiques inédites" in 2022; "Des gens et des rues. 100 ans Pol Aschma" en 2021; "Luxembourg-ville, de la forteresse au patrimoine mondial UNESCO" in 2020; "Jean Weyrich, gentleman photojournaliste" in 2019; "Jochen Herling" in 2018; "Métiers d’antan et travail manuel" in 2017; "La place d'Armes et le Cercle" in 2016; "Luxembourg – une histoire européenne / Kirchberg, porte de l'Europe" in 2015; exhibit on the Boulevard Royal in 2014; exhibition dedicated to Luxembourg photographer Batty Fischer in 2013; "Le quartier de la Gare au fil de son histoire" in 2012; etc.
