At the recommendation of the College of Aldermen, Luxembourg's Minister for Culture, Eric Thill, has appointed Shaaf Milani-Nia as UNESCO Site Manager for Luxembourg City's World Heritage site, "City of Luxembourg: its Old Quarters and Fortifications".

The appointment was made in the wake of the retirement of the Ministry of Culture's former UNESCO Site Manager Robert L. Philippart.

Shaaf Milani-Nia, who is currently the City's Chief Architect, has already represented Luxembourg City, alongside Luxembourg City Mayor Lydie Polfer, at the Organization of World Heritage Cities, which is a grouping of cities on UNESCO's list of World Heritage sites.

The appointment confirms the Ministry's decision to entrust the management of the UNESCO World Heritage site, "City of Luxembourg: its Old Quarters and Fortifications" to the City of Luxembourg authorities.
