On Friday, 29 November 2024, the college of the mayor and aldermen honoured athletes and sports teams for their achievements in 2023/2024, along with members who have held active leadership roles in a Luxembourg City sports club for more than 20 years.

During this 39th Sportleréierung, 98 individual athletes and 23 teams – a total of 345 people – received certificates for their performances during the 2023/2024 season (national champion or winner of the national cup, in the "junior" and "senior" categories).

The winners hailed from 26 clubs devoted to 38 different sporting disciplines: archery, athletics, aviation, beach volley ball, billiards, curling, cycling, figure skating, ice hockey, ice pétanque, climbing, judo, kendo, taekwondo, tennis, triathlon, sailing, Schutzhund, skiing, speed skating, sports shooting, stock car racing, water sports, and weightlifting. Luxembourg City has more than 190 sports clubs that offer activities in over 42 sporting disciplines.

In addition, 17 members with leadership roles in 6 different Luxembourg City sports associations were honoured for their work as managers and administrators for over 20 years.

The Luxembourg Jazz Combo provided musical accompaniment during the official ceremony.
