Luxembourg City Tourist Office

Guided tours available from 22 November 2024 to 1 January 2025

During the festive season, Luxembourg City simply brims with winter and festive cheer. Guided tours are one of the best ways for visitors to explore this winter wonderland!

To celebrate Saint Nicholas Day, the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) has put together a special programme for children aged 6 and over (and their parents). On 6 December, the LCTO will be hosting a "City Promenade for kids": this guided tour takes the form of a treasure hunt, during which children get to explore both Luxembourg City and the myths surrounding the legendary figure Melusina. At the end of the tour, every child will receive a "Titchen" (goodie bag), the traditional gift distributed by St Nicholas.

In addition to guided tours for children, the LCTO has also scheduled a "Winterlights by Night" walking tour at dusk. Tour-goers will be enchanted by the magical atmosphere as as they discover the city's highlights under the spell of Christmas.

Luxembourg City Underground

Deep in the heart of Luxembourg City lies an extraordinary network of underground galleries stretching for several kilometres. These are the Casemates, one of Luxembourg's main sights!

Built under various foreign rulers, the Bock and the Pétrusse Casemates are closely entwined with the history of Luxembourg City. In the Casemates, in addition to breath-taking views, light and sound effects bring to life the fascinating history of the ancient fortified city, offering visitors an unforgettable experience.

The Casemates are now open all year round, 7 days a week, except 25 December 2024 and 1 January 2025.
