More visibility for shops

The City has created the "Retail" database to help increase the visibility of the city's shops. The aim is to gather details about these shops and publish them on various digital platforms, including

 • on a page devoted to the business on cityshopping.lu (launching on 1 December),
 • in the new cityapp – VDL (in the "Explore" tab), and
 • on maps.vdl.lu

FAQs

Are you a business owner in the city? Do you have any questions? Would you like more information? Check our list of FAQs below:

Do I need to pay for this service?

No.

Do I need to have taken part in the direct voucher purchase scheme in order to be listed in the database?

No. Any shop that has physical premises within Luxembourg City is welcome to create a listing in our database.

Do I need to be a member of the Union commerciale de la Ville de Luxembourg (Luxembourg City Business Association – UCVL) to appear on these sites?

No. If you are a UCVL member, the Cityshopping team will populate your listing and help you keep it up to date.

What happens if I do not complete my profile or forget to update my details?

As a shop owner, you are personally responsible for the data you enter on our platform.

However, the City reserves the right to deactivate any listing containing material that does not comply with our terms and conditions, and/or for which the accuracy of the data is dubious.

Why do I need to check, supplement and update these details?

By making sure your details are up to date in this one database, you ensure that potential customers can find you through at least three digital platforms!

As the information may well be seen by huge numbers of visitors and potential customers, it is crucial that you present the best face of your business. Making sure the details are correct, complete and attractive is an important part of that.

Who do I contact if I have a problem?

Simply get in touch with the City of Luxembourg's Cellule développement économique et commercial (Economic and Commercial Development Unit). We will be happy to help you with any questions you may have about this tool.

Please contact us via email (dec@vdl.lu) or give us a call at 4796-5000.

New cityshopping.lu website

The information in this database will also appear on cityshopping.lu, the digital platform for shopping in the city. Complete with a fresh new look and a whole host of new features, it will go live on 1 December 2020.

This platform will benefit not only those visiting and living in the capital, but above all, the city's retailers, who will have their very own digital shop window!

Background

To help increase the visibility of the city's shops, redesigning cityshopping.lu was one of the measures announced by the City in spring 2020 in order to provide support to the capital's retailers in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
