Introduction
Inspired by the "MUR Oberkampf" in Paris, where more than 300 artists have left their mark over the years, and following on from the graffiti project at the ventilation tower at Place Guillaume II, "LE MUR LUXEMBOURG" features temporary works of graffiti and street art in a range of styles on its 30 m2 urban canvas.
Rue du Fort Neipperg
The LE MUR Luxembourg urban art project was launched in March 2022, in collaboration with the non-profit organisation I Love Graffiti, and no fewer than 13 spray can masters have left their mark on the gable wall of 23, Rue du Fort Neipperg.
New location in Rue du St-Esprit
Due to the extension of the Rocade building, LE MUR was moved to a new location in Ville Haute, where it now occupies the façade of the Lëtzebuerg City Museum at 14, rue du St-Esprit. The new location of the "Modulable - Urbain – Réactif" (MUR) concept is expected to unlock new potential for the LE MUR Luxembourg urban art project, while providing it with a home in the heart of the city centre.
Project initiated by I Love Graffiti ASBL, with the support of the City of Luxembourg.

Spike
The "LE MUR Luxembourg" urban art adventure continues with a new piece by Luxembourg Artist Spike, who will be taking over the façade of the Lëtzebuerg City Museum beginning this Friday, 21 November.
Since the mid-1990s, Spike has constantly been conquering new ground. Rooted in traditional graffiti and wildstyle, his early years set the stage for a bold shift in his approach at the dawn of the 2000s. Still basing his pieces on the letters S-P-I-K-E, he maintained the elaborated structure of his letters but pared them down to their basic skeleton. They thus become graphic shapes, and are used mostly in monochrome.
This evolution led the artist, who trained as a graphic designer, to move away from traditional, visible walls and seek out atypical surfaces: rusty doors, broken windows, abandoned buildings. These structures, packed with history, have become Spike's playground. The environment thus becomes part of the composition, leading Spike to play with the relationship between his letters, empty spaces and the irregular surface of the wall.
For Spike, his art is no longer merely about the act of painting. It is about the process of discovery, exploration and being at one with these spaces that are on the verge of disappearing. His spiky, slicing shapes become part of the history of these places… sometimes fleetingly, as with LE MUR, and sometimes for good, like the works on a façade along the Chemin de la Corniche and at 16, rue des Capucins. The final piece is only a snapshot of this experience.
The new mural by Spike will be officially unveiled on 21 November 2025 at 18:00.
