Activities
An extensive pre-works programme to promote and revitalise the Schluechthaus has been launched. The aim is to test out the ideas garnered during the civic outreach process as to the site's future. Before construction work begins, a series of one-time events – including cultural, sports and intergenerational activities – will be put on at the Old Slaughterhouse.

Repair Café at Schluechthaus
As part of its efforts to combat climate change, the City regularly organises Repair Café events.
The City of Luxembourg and Repair Café Lëtzebuerg invite you to attend the fifth "Repair Café at Schluechthaus" on Saturday, 9 November 2024. The event is organised as part of the City's wider programme to combat climate change. Volunteers with the knowledge and skills to repair damaged or broken items (clothes, small electrical appliances, bikes, toys, small items of furniture, etc.) will be on site to help visitors give their treasured possessions a new lease on life. Visitors may be asked to assist the repairers, who will be more than happy to share their know-how with them. In addition, a textile repair and stain removal workshop will enable visitors, armed with their damaged or stained textiles, to learn the techniques needed to give a second life to their beloved clothes or household linen, entirely on their own.
As an educational initiative, "Repair Cafés" seek to encourage visitors to acquire the skills required to recondition household items that need minor repairs, so as to reduce waste, purchases of new items and, consequently, their carbon footprint. Apart from their practical aspect, "Repair Cafés" are also a great place to meet and socialise with others. Fairtrade, organic and locally produced refreshments will be available on-site for volunteers and guests alike.

Visitors can look forward to live performances, graffiti sessions and joining in with the hip-hop community in a celebration of the beating heart of hip-hop.
Second Chance
Every year, thousands of tonnes of clothes and books in excellent condition are thrown out, contributing directly to climate change. To counter this trend, a flea market was held in the large hall of the Old Slaughterhouse. Organised by voluntary associations working in this field, the flea market featured second-hand clothing and books. As part of its commitment to promoting the circular economy, the City encourages anyone who would like to sell their second-hand clothes and/or books to take part in the event.
Bike Days
The City and SAF Zéisseng invite people of all ages to come improve their cycling skills under the guidance of expert instructors. Children and teenagers will be able to try out a variety of obstacle courses, supervised by club coaches, in a friendly, fun atmosphere.
