To better protect our forests and trees, the City has defined a number of priorities and future projects to strengthen the resilience of our forests and woodland ecosystems. These were determined in response to the findings reported by the Nature and Forest Agency (Administration de la nature et des forêts) that the health of trees has been deteriorating for several decades.

Luxembourg's forests, made up largely of beech and oak woodlands, are particularly vulnerable to weather events linked to climate change. Furthermore, almost 60% of our beech trees are already showing the effects of drought, while projections predict an increase in the intensity, duration and frequency of such dry periods in the years to come.
