Lee Ritenour & Dave Grusin Band

About Lee Ritenour

Lee Ritenour, (born Lee Mack Ritenour, 11 January 1952, Los Angeles, CA, USA) has maintained a delicate balance between the individual creative vision and the group dynamic, since the beginning of his career. He did his first session work in the late ‘60s with the Mamas and the Papas, who dubbed him Captain Fingers for demonstrating incredible dexterity while still in his teens.

Since his early recordings in the 1970s, he has earned a GRAMMY Award and 19 GRAMMY nominations, numerous #1 spots on guitar polls, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Canadian SJ Awards, and a prestigious “Alumnus of the Year” Award from the University of Southern California. He has recorded more than 40 albums that have yielded 35 chart songs. As a young guitarist, he put his combination of diverse musical styles and brilliant technical chops to work on more than 3,000 sessions with a broad spectrum of artists, and was a founding member of Fourplay, which is considered the most successful group in contemporary jazz.

About Dave Grusin

Dave Grusin has worked in the profession of music since the late 50’s, variously as an arranger, pianist, composer & record producer. Born in Littleton, CO and educated at the University of Colorado, he holds honorary doctoral degrees from CU, the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and the Manhattan School of muxic.

Considered one of the top 10 film scorers of his generation, Grusin is also renowned as a jazz artist and co-founder of the independent record label GRP. Early fusion jazz albums include “Mountain Dance”, “Harlequin”, and “Migration”, and a deep immersion in digital technology. In the 1990’s he returned to a focus on the acoustic piano, which led to four critically acclaimed tribute albums of Gershwin, Ellington, Mancini, and Bernstein material.

From 1976 to 1995, he was in partnership with Larry Rosen as owners of GRP records. His life as a recording artist and producer has resulted in ten Grammy awards and numerous nominations, (including one for “Two Worlds” in 2002, and another for “Amparo” in 2008.). These two classical projects with guitarist Lee Ritenour feature performances by Renee Fleming, Joshua Bell, Gil Shaham, Chris Botti and James Taylor, among others.

In addition to his profession, Dave is co-founder (with Rosen) of the National Foundation for Jazz Education, a philanthropic group dedicated to helping young jazz musicians. He is also a cattle rancher and a dedicated environmental activist.

Ivan Paduart 4-tet

About

‘Inner Travels’ marks the return of a longstanding tandem: pianist Ivan Paduart and guitarist Patrick Deltenre, who worked together on 1993's Illusions Sensorielles.

After ‘Hand In Hand’ (2018) and ‘Ear We Are’ (2020), they are back together again for a repertoire of ten tracks composed by the two accomplices. While the two previous albums introduced us to ‘cool’ and/or ‘mainstream’ jazz of European essence, ‘Inner Travels’ perpetuates the two leaders' obvious appetite for harmonious, melodic thematic material. ‘Thalys’ opens the album at what seems to be the most upbeat tempo on the opus.

On the other hand, tracks like ‘Resilience’, ‘Pile ou face’ and ‘Forbidden Love’ are characterised by a chamber writing style that illustrates the lyricism and crystalline sonorities of the two soloists, whose understanding has been nurtured by years of complicity.

There is of course nothing dark or tormented about these inner journeys: if they plunge into intimacy, it is all the better to find there the source of a certain well-being.

Artists

  • Patrick Deltenre - Guitar, harmonica, compositions

Marriage Material

About

Marriage Material is a sensational band from Berlin - Germany!

Heads and founders of the quartet are drummer Felix Lehrmann and bassist Thomas Stieger. The two have a long-standing connection and intimate musical collaboration with a wide variety of genres in the music world.

The Finnish guitarist Arto Mäkelä and the Austrian Raphael Meinhart on vibraphone, marimba and synths give this quartet its unique coloring. They present their second album “Enchantment Under The Sea”, released in summer 2023 on Leopard Records. None other than the multiple Grammy winner Joachim Becker (producer of Joe Zawinul, among others) took part as executive producer of the album. The results are brilliant compositions – highly energetic, profound and independent statements. Music that produces complex images and moods. Look forward to an outstanding evening with this “Cinematic Jazz” ensemble including four of the best musicians of today’s European scene.
