Project description

The City, Post Luxembourg and Creos will be carrying out redevelopment works on Rue de Reckenthal.

The work will be carried out in collaboration with the following departments:

  • VDL – Service Eaux (Water Department): Replacement of drinking water mains.
  • VDL – Service Éclairage public (Public Lighting Department): Replacement of public lighting.
  • VDL – Service Canalisation (Sewer Department): Replacement of the combined waste water pipelines, installation of a wastewater pipe system and a rainwater drainage system.
  • Creos Luxembourg SA – Électricité: Replacement and upgrade of the electricity grid.
  • Creos Luxembourg SA – Gaz: replacement and upgrade of gas mains.
  • Post Luxembourg: Network replacement and upgrade. Installation of the fiber optic network.

Works schedule

Commencement of work: February 2023

Expected duration of the works: 490 working days

Planned completion: May 2025

Traffic information

What is the current traffic situation?

For vehicular traffic

The affected sections will be gradually closed off to traffic as the project progresses.

Rue de Reckenthal will remain closed to all traffic except local residents and deliveries.

Through traffic will also remain prohibited on the entire length of the street.

Vehicular access to private property will be maintained as much as physically possible. As the roadworks progress, residents will be notified of the direction in which they will need to travel to Strassen or Rue de Rollingergrund.

Pedestrian access and access for emergency services will be guaranteed throughout the duration of the works. Vehicular access to private property will be maintained as long as physically possible.

For businesses and deliveries

The City of Luxembourg will try to ensure access for deliveries to local businesses throughout the duration of the works.

Changes to traffic flows will be implemented as the works progress. Appropriate signage will be put in place by the Service Circulation (Traffic Depatment). The City of Luxembourg thanks local residents, businesses and road users for their understanding, and apologises for any inconvenience caused.

For public transport users

The "Strassen, Steekaul" and "Reckenthal, Gäertnerei" bus stops will not be served until the roadworks are completed.

All sewerage work, laying of water and gas pipes, and installation of dry utilities.

Your home utility connections

  • As part of the construction project, City representatives and private contractors will visit residents' homes.
  • They will be assessing the condition of their existing connections.
  • If you wish to have your existing connections replaced, please inform the City representatives during this on-site inspection.

Stay informed

To make life easier for residents while these works are being carried out, the City of Luxembourg has implemented a series of measures, including the option to participate in meetings regarding the progress of the work. Residents affected by the works may participate in these meetings to obtain additional information about the project's progress and air any grievances they may have.
