KLANGPHONICS

KLANGPHONICS

About

After meeting in 2017 whilst studying music in southern Germany, Maxl, Ben and Markus are slowly redefining what live electronic music sounds and looks like. Initially a live band, Klangphonics are now becoming an act where the traditional boundaries of band, DJ and producer no longer apply.

In 2021 they released their debut E.P. „Songs to Try“ which was superbly received and has since garnered millions of streams on Spotify, all through their own self promotion. Fiercely independent from the start, Klangphonics have had a very DIY approach to everything, including social media, where they have racked up millions of followers across all major platforms through creative viral marketing. „We didn’t just want to sit around waiting for things to happen or for that magic break“ says Markus. Sold out European tours in 2022 and 2023 were also largely organized independently by the group, without a promoter, booking agency or label involved.

2024 is now set to be an exciting new chapter, with the release of their debut album „Perfect Opposure“ planned for the Autumn. The lead single „In Between (Memories and Dreams)“ gives a first impression of a sound, which with its unique blend of modern electronic elements marrying traditional songwriting sensibilities, simply refuses to be labeled and put in a box. It paves the way for new tonality in the music, combining a more delicate pop-inspired production whilst retaining the techno and house influences that make them such a captivating live act.

With a major European and first North American headline tour planned for early 2025 and a new carefully curated AV show lined up, you can probably expect to hear (and see) a lot more from this group in the coming months.

DJ Headmasta & Wilczynski

About DJ Headmasta

I would call myself a talented, creative music producer and beatmaker. Starting out as a guitarist, I played in numerous luxembourgish bands and gained a lot of experience on various stages.

Later as a beat-maker I composed, arranged and recorded my first Hip-Hop songs on the drum machine "MPC". With the help of jazz, funk and soul records, I produced my own creations that quickly created enthusiasm in the national music scene. As DJ Headmasta I took part in the "Beatbattles" organized by Axwai Asbl and won most of them.

This success did not go unnoticed for a long time and I subsequently produced songs for national artists such as "Maka MC", "Edel Weis", "Corbi" by De Läb, etc. As a music producer, I recognize the wishes of the artists, recognize their strength and ensure a quick implementation.

Jambal & Culture the Kid

About Jambal

Jambal, the rising quartet, unveil their latest gem 'Enterprises of Great Pith and Moment.'

In 'Enterprises of Great Pith and Moment, ' Jambal and LA based electronic/downtempo artist Tristan de Liege team up to transport the audience into a mesmerizing musical universe that weaves together elements of UK jazz and Nu Jazz.

'Overall, the album is a beautiful display of musicality. Each song is unique, while still maintaining the same calm, improvised feel throughout. The album has a definite feeling of continuity and individual brilliance, where one should pay close attention to what each instrument has to say. Guitar riffs blend effortlessly with melancholic keys and trumpet crescendos, while the drumming is intricate and beautifully unpredictable. The emotive theme of the songs is often hard to pin-down, as tracks can quickly transition and begin portraying different feelings and expressions, making for a very interesting listening experience.' - East Portland Blog

The quartet, comprised of Ben Bley on trumpet and flugelhorn, Arthur Clees on vibes and keys, Luca Garofalo on drums and Rolan Eberhardt on Bass, exhibits a rare fusion of freshness and sophistication in their performances.

While having amassed over 100.000 streams on Spotify alone, appearing in webzines London Jazz News, Earmilk, RTL Today and receiving spins on JazzFM, Radio ARA and RTL’s station RTL Play, on stage, the band had the opportunity to open for the notable Portico Quartet at Luxembourg’s cultural centre Neimënster and Roni Kaspi at the 'Kulturfabrik'. Additionally, they have showcased their talent at a number of music festivals, from Last Summer Dance to Messtival and Echterlive Festival.

About Culture the Kid

Culture the Kid is a 20-year-old Luxembourgish rapper of Brazilian origin. Music has accompanied him since a young age with the Brazilian songs that his mother showed him and a passion for rock, jazz and soul music that his father passed on to him. Singing is a key element in the life of the young boy who began writing his own lyrics at the young age of 10.

It was at the age of 14 that Culture the Kid discovered rap and thus a completely different, much richer and less rigid way of expressing oneself. Two years later, in 2019, his first single called “Livin in the Clouds” was released. Thus followed a few singles until the launch of his first mixtape “General Culture” in 2021. This project contained the track “Glass Walls” which ended up reaching the first place on the national “Chartbreaker” and remained there for two consecutive weeks. This was followed in 2022 by the EP “Searching Rhymes”, a project bringing together songs written and composed on the guitar that break away from the codes of hip-hop and borrow sounds from folk/acoustic country .

Subsequently, the young rapper became increasingly visible in the Luxembourg scene, notably by winning the “theQwest” freestyle challenge launched by Rockhal in 2021 and 2022. It was notably in 2022 that he was able to participate in the concert organised by “theQwest” at the Rockhal alongside big names in German-speaking rap like OG Keemo, Symba and Yung Hurn. Culture the Kid was also on the lineup for the “lx Finest” concert in “Den Atelier” along with prominent names in national Hip-Hop. He also participated in a collaboration between several Luxembourgish musical artists with the Luxembourgish Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Grammy Award Winner Gast Waltzing.

Aming Culture the Kid's most notable collaborations are his numerous performances with the modern jazz band “Jambal” as well as an appearance on their first project.
In 2023, he won the prize for best live performance at the “Screaming Fields Festival” and no more than a week later was the opening act for Belgian singer Selah Sue during her show in Wiltz. It was also this year that he made his first appearance outside Luxembourg with a concert at the “Pelpass Festival” in Strasbourg where Culture the Kid surprised festival-goers and consolidated his status as an energetic and captivating performer.

The young man now lives in London where he is studying music at ICMP (Institute of Contemporary Music Performance). He plans to immerse himself in the rich urban culture of the capital in order to prepare his new project “AYNE?” which will be released in mid-November.

NORLYZ

About

The electro-acoustic live band unites the warmth and fragility of acoustic instruments with the precision and power of the electronics: captivating grooves rich in fine sonic details, inspired by techno, world music and jazz. Guiding the audience NORLYZ embarks on a journey through parallel worlds, mystical lands and cinematic soundscapes. While following an intricate dramaturgy, the project leaves space for creative improvisation between the 4 musicians aiming to elevate each other and the overall experience.

Since their start as NORLYZ in June 2022, the band has played several shows, including Fusion, Detect Classic, Elbjazz and 3000Grad Festival, as well as club shows at Sisyphos Berlin and Knust Hamburg, among others. On November 18, 2022, the band released their debut album "First Dawn On Planet B.", which is also available as a limited double vinyl since June 2, 2023. In addition, a number of singles, trailers and live videos were released: via their own label NORLYZ Music, 3000Grad Records and Best Works Records including remixes by André Lodemann, JPattersson and Mollono.Bass.

Just as multifaceted as the music are the backgrounds of the 4 musicians: Paul David Heckhausen as founder, producer, composer and live musician is the driving force of NORLYZ. As a drummer and pianist he comes from rock and jazz music, traveled and drummed for a year in Brazil and finally studied composition and music production in the Netherlands. After a phase as a DJ, he followed up on his urge to play more live again and to combine electronic with acoustic music. So he founded Schattenspiel, the predecessor project which is known today in a new line-up as NORLYZ.

Cellist Gábor Hartyáni comes from Hungary, lived and studied in the Netherlands, and has a penchant for groove, world music and jazz. He has been playing with Schattenspiel since 2019.

Trumpeter Philipp Püschel and saxophonist Lasse Golz met while studying jazz in Hamburg. The two play together with Paul in the space jazz band ROCKET MEN, among others, as well as regularly with the techno marching band MEUTE. Philipp and Paul know each other from their time together in a big band in Hannover.

SCHATTENSPIEL played frequently on festivals like Distortion Copenhagen (DK), Eurosonic (NL) or Detect Classic at Funkhaus Berlin as well as club shows at Sisyphos and Mensch Meier Berlin to mention a few. Several singles as well as an EP were released on the labels "Rebellion der Träumer" and "Traum Schallplatten" in the past years.

Ciao Kennedy

About

What do a theatre teacher, a lawyer, a social worker, a bicycle repairman and a kefir brewer from the Namur region do when they meet in Brussels under the same roof? The answer: electronica post-rock, dancing and uninhibited. All just under 30 years old, Samuel du Fontbaré (guitar), Léopold de San (guitar), Louis Gaillard (keyboards), Gaspard de Bellefroid (bass) and Simon Boonen (drums) have been forming the band Ciao Kennedy since 2018. In the wake of two groundbreaking EPs (Les Vacances in 2020 and KELDERCAVE in 2021), during which these childhood friends honed their style and tamed their instruments, the project offered itself a residency of several months under the benevolent and formative roof of VOLTA. Just enough time to record "the problem is", the third chapter in the band's history. Five new tracks - J.Z.K.R., M12 part.I&II, Parcifal part.I&II - to consolidate a clearer identity, and electric desires of post-rock narrations dynamised with keyboards. With a year 2022 marked out with boards, it is now live that Ciao Kennedy makes the most noise. Without added machinery.
