Project description
- VDL – Service Eaux (Water Department): installation of a drinking water network to increase the water supply in the southern part of the city and provide drinking water to Merl Park in view of its future redevelopment and the events that will be held there. An additional drinking fountain will also be installed.
- VDL – Éclairage public (Public Lighting Departing): upgrading of the street lighting network in the western part of the park.
Works schedule
- Commencement of work: autumn 2024
- Expected duration of the works: 125 working days
- Planned completion: Spring 2025
Traffic information
For pedestrians and cyclists:
The project will have no impact on nearby roads, which will remain open to traffic throughout the works.
The work will be carried out in multiple stages. Detours for pedestrians and cyclists will be set up at each stage. The park and the Pavillon restaurant will remain open to the public through the redevelopment works. None of the park's main entrances will be closed during the works.
The paths and detours for pedestrians and cyclists may be adapted as the works progress. Appropriate signage will be put in place to guide park users and ensure their safety.
For businesses and deliveries:
The City of Luxembourg will try to ensure access for deliveries as far as possible throughout the duration of the works.

The works are being carried out in three phases. Phase 1 is currently underway.
How long will the work take?
Work is progressing according to schedule.
What work has already been completed?
Work to lay the final water mains and electrical conduits for the Service Éclairage Public (Public Lighting Department) has been completed on Section 1 of Phase 1 on the side of the park where the Rue de Bragance / Rue Adolphe entrance is located.
What remains to be done?
The installation of the final water mains and electrical conduits for the park lighting will be carried out during all three phases on the entire section between Rue Bragance and Boulevard Pierre Dupong.
Stay informed
To make life easier for residents while these works are being carried out, the City of Luxembourg has implemented a series of measures, including the option to participate in meetings regarding the progress of the work. Residents affected by the works may participate in these meetings to obtain additional information about the project's progress and air any grievances they may have.
Weekly site meetings
The weekly site meetings will take place on Fridays at 10:00.
